Large Distributed Generation, Group A, Block 5 Soft Close

< Back to Vendor Updates

On March 22nd, 2022 an application was submitted that exceeded the 42.90 MW of available capacity in Large Distributed Generation, Group A, Block 5.  As outlined in Section 1(B) of the Program Guidebook, once the allocated capacity of a block has been reached, the block will remain open until the earlier of seven calendar days or 10 MW of additional capacity is submitted.  As a result, Large Distributed Generation, Group A, Block 5 will fully close at 11:59 PM Central Prevailing Time on March 29th, 2022, unless a project application in a paid batch is submitted before then that would cause the block to exceed 52.90 MW (the initial block capacity of 41.90 MW plus 10 MW maximum additional capacity).

Project applications submitted in a paid batch after closure of the block will be added to an ordinal waitlist. Applications will be selected from the waitlist in order as capacity becomes available due to the withdrawal of projects ahead of them.

The IPA’s filed 2022 Long-Term Plan (Docket #22-0231), which is set to be approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) this summer, contemplates the timing of opening subsequent blocks. As such, the timing of the opening of a subsequent block for Large Distributed Generation projects in Group A will be determined through the ICC’s approval of the Agency’s 2022 Long-Term Plan.
